Additionally there are two large airy lounges, a small quiet lounge, a large conservatory, dining room, smoking room and library. The home also has 21 toilets (including en-suites), together with three bathing areas, of which two are equipped with hydraulic lifting assisted bathing units, for the safety, ease and comfort of the residents.

The home also has small garden and patios areas, and a relaxing, protected courtyard next to the main lounge areas, which together with the large and beautiful conservatory enjoy and make maximum use of the available sun to residents.

All services, management structure, staffing and care hours applied, together with environmental facilities provided, including communal space and bedrooms within the home meet with, and in many cases exceed, the requirements of the National Minimum Standards, as determined by the Care Standards Act 2000, and Care Standards Regulations 2001. We are one of the Homes that have invested in the future.

Durham House provides a communal living space approaching 6 metre square per resident, which compares with the specified requirement of the National Minimum Standards, should homes actually meet these standards, of 4.2 metre square per resident.

This results in Durham House providing an excess of space within the home, compared to homes that actually meet these NMS Standards, of some 40% greater than we are obliged to provide, for the enjoyment and benefit of residents within the home.

Facilities on offer include:

  • Garden / Patio area
  • Chiropody Service
